I found that a good method to encourage critical thinking and to wake people up, is to ask certain questions, let them think and come up with their own answers. it is like a "hands-on" excercise. They usually draw the right conclusion and they believe it more...because nobody has told them so...they said it themselves..
..so...they are not going to say that they lie to themselves...
