A good point from Stewart about how the public can be manipulated in
today's news (30 Oct 2009):
"H1N1 Vaccine Fury
People waiting in long lines for their flu shots are furious that one segment of the population is getting their shots without the long wait—prisoners who fall into high-risk categories for the swine flu will get their shots while members of the general public must wait until more of the 'precious doses' are available.
'If you want to get people angry, tell them someone in prison for a very violent felony is going to get it before their grandmother in a nursing home,' commented the vice-chairman of the Public Health Committee, Massachusetts State Senator Mark Montigny. Sounds like someone has done their homework about how to work up the general populace—and get them to race to the flu shot lines before 'their' dose is given to a criminal!"
