Why? Why not? We can only speculate. Perhaps there are not enough of them to control the 6 billion people on the planet. Perhaps they just view us as cattle and just take what they need when they need it. Perhaps they prefer keeping people in the dark as it is easier to control them by fear and games. Perhaps they are scientists engaged in a variety of experiments and prefer to keep their distance. Perhaps they are afraid of the mob scene. Perhaps there are other entities that keep tabs on them and they have a higher order to answer to.

There are so many different alien agendas I really can't keep up with them all. We may be looking at a species that is just as divided in intent and purpose as our own human race. Also, if one is in the minority, in terms of numbers... keeping a low profile and working the situation from behind the scenes is a good strategey.
