Default Re: The Ritual Slaughter Of Dolphins - A Plea To All Avalonians

Greetings dear Avalonians,

Thanks for your compassion; it is indeed hard to remain indifferent in the face of such acts.
Your warm words are appreciated, Dolphin and all the others, but this is really the least one could do for our companions, the Dolphins.

The word is spreading throughout the whole world and the petition is steadily growing - also thanks to your participation - but still much more needs to be done, of course.

Those who wish could take further steps.

Could you please write, as politely and neutral-positively as possible - in order to avoid achieving precisely the opposite reaction by the recipients: a matter of average human psychology, id est, ego... - to the following officials and institutions?

You would also find contact data of embassies/diplomatic representations of Denmark and the Faroe Islands here:http://www.embassyworld.com

Do please write politely, once again, to the danish ambassador to your country/to other nations, urge her/him to speak out against this ritual killing of dolphins and pilot whales.

Here is a model i am using, but, of course, you should feel free to formulate your own letter - for, personal input, diversity might also have more impact.

Subject: The Ritual slaughter of Dolphins - Appeal to Excellency the Prime Minister

Excellency,

I hereby would like to submit to your consideration the following information and urgent request.

I recently came across this petition, calling for the stop of the tradition of killing dolphins and pilot whales in the Faroe Islands:

Stop The Bloody Tradition Of The Faroe Islands

"This petition has been created to target to the horrible bloody practice, which is still taking place in the heart of the European Union and which belongs to the middle ages but not to the modern society. Every November inhabitants of Faroe Islands* come to the sea to teach their sons to kill. The subject of this millennium tradition, aimed to make men out of boys, are confiding and very human-friendly dolphins - 1500 animal units every year. We feel confident, that such cruelty towards the fauna is absolutely unacceptable in the 21.th century in the face of the massive damages of the civilization." [...]

Excellency,

I believe, we are many around the world to consider dolphins and pilot whales as the most innocent, harmless and human-friendly creatures of this planet.
They certainly do not deserve such a treatment from us, humans.
Besides, studies have comprehensively demonstrated, that:

- The hunts cause both physical and psychological suffering to the whales and dolphins;
- The hunts are no longer necessary to provide food to the islanders;
- A New (2008) research undertaken by the Environmental Medicine section of Syddansk University shows that environmental toxins in pilot whale meat make it unsafe to eat and demonstrates clear links between consumption of pilot whale meat and incidence of Parkinson's disease; whaling is damaging to both whales and people;
- The gruesome spectacle of the hunts is extremely disturbing to the vast majority of the international community - many people coming to the Faroes do so to enjoy the natural environment and wildlife. Many would-be tourists may be discouraged from visiting the Faroes, not wishing to risk witnessing a whale and/or dolphin hunt.
These hunts dramatically tarnish the Faroes' image as a place to enjoy peace and nature.

Could you please use all your wisdom and authority to help bring this tradition to an end?

Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards."

Thank you all,

Namaste.
