Children in Public Schools
It would be a very good idea for parents out there to review their district's emergency response plan. After 9-11 the NYT carried an article (and Alex Jones mirrored it) that if/when martial law is declared, schools will experience a lock-down and parents will not be allowed to pick up their children. At that point, the military also has complete authority to take the children to a secret location of their choice and not notify you.
Don't get too scared, there may be things you can teach your kids to protect themselves. My children know to excuse themselves for the bathroom and then to run out an emergency exit. We have a pick up point.
