Default Re: A vaccine against AIDS

Can anyone help me with the 'logic' of this Aids Vaccine.

As I understand it 16,000 HIV negative people in Thailand were
inoculated in the trial - 2/3 got Aids. This is seen as success,
since 1/3 didn't get aids.

Question - Maybe no-one would have got Aids in the trial
number - with or without a vaccine?

And maybe the 2/3 who got Aids, got it because of the vaccine?

How can you rate success regarding something you may not get anyway?
