Anyway, sorry for anyconfusion. What I meant was that there have been numerous 'rover' missions to mars (The Great British Beagle, anyone?) that have got within a hairs breadth of landing and disappeared. Could say this was alien intervention, but perhaps also just simple malfunction.
These craft, which are not light by any means, may well have crash landed into Mars.
I don't really see the difference between this and some rocket stage dropping onto the moon.
We haven't actually been dropping bombs on Mars, and , from what I can gather, we are not dropping bombs on the moon.
