I for one would love to play the role the universe has for me since it involves my supreme joy and unity. still my monkey mind fuchks that up cause EGO is a horrible master, but an AMAZING tool. And like others, I often times miss the cue's from Universe when they are not packaged as i want them to be and have missed great opportunities thinking i am better than the opportunity being presented to me. alas..... if i could just master this thing called sublimation of the will...
funny aside...i opened lifes little instruction manual today randomly to a page that said,
"The True Leader of a true cause is the unacknowledged servant of mankind.
Stationary in the background, this individual is doing the work that nobody else can or will do. An erratic career is like the comet's course, dashing through space, headlong and alone." Anonymous -1883
this hit hard because i have not been living the true life...according to this quote...i have been erratic and seeking recognition.
I suppose i have been an arrogant and blusterous in my time, and I often seek to be recognized for my gifts, abilities and skills as a leader...at least thats what my wonderful wife reminds me of at times that i get longwinded. I really am thankful for her.
my growing edge right now is finding that meaningful work that engages my full faculties and puts all my god given talents to work to making more joy, truth, and passion in the world. My growing edge is finding that work AND having it fulfill my need for recognition. I DO enjoy being special, however i DO NOT enjoy being special at the expense of others. I DO enjoy living a blessed life, but again not at the expense of others. I seek to always provide as much value to the community, the world, my family, etc, as i receive.
I am grateful for my sensory gifts and acuity. However, I have been judgmental, cold, and critical. I declare my correctness with authority and without apology too often. ultimately though i know my weaknesses and lay them bare before the world without fear. I am the sternest judge i shall ever face as i have found out nearly passing over.
anyway
I am also not a fan of negativity. Unfortunately im a bit of a martyr and often get the negative perspective of people when they look at me. just the nature of my medicine. im ok with that though. have to be i suppose...
It helps me see who they really are behind the facade of pleasant social contract bull. you never really know a person till you mess with them a bit. Kerry and i had a convo bout that and it's definitely an effective tactic for determining a persons true character. however it doesn't exactly win you brownie points with "gentle-people," or people who believe politeness is key.
f-ck polite. Be the light. and if one dont get you the other, just do whats right.
feel me?

I feel you. And I do think the reasoning can be split a bit further if desired. I agree you can break up peoples "social veneer" by confronting and challenging them. And often what lurks below becomes visible.
But I see that as a technique, and techniques are not needed where the outcome can be had directly without use of techniques. In other words, can you just directly observe what's below the surface on people, or get to the "truth" without creating a disharmony in the process? Sure you can.
I'm a fan of doing directly what can be done that way. Meditative techniques are great for many things, but if those things can be achieved or arrived at simply by achievement, or arrival, that would seem a simpler way.
Overall, I think humanity is being challenged to find the harmonious, peaceful, loving road as opposed to the confrontational, polarized, violent, self serving road. The hallmarks of where we are headed are unconditional love, non judgement, living in the now moment, and complete harmony. We can use techniques or exercise ourselves towards these things, or we can simply forego all the linear approach and choose them now, with nothing more than simple choice involved. We have them here now, available to each and every one of us, and the challenge for the human race is, what will we choose.
Where we end up over the next few years depends utterly on the choices we make now. And not to put anyone on the spot, but the whole universe is watching, because what we are doing on earth right now has implications throughout all that is.
