I'm just sitting back here as an observer, but I will tell my tale.
I am a hairstylist (good one)... I have people befriend me all the time for haircuts or colors. I have learned to say no because I see that they have way more than me (which I don't envy)... or always offer services that they never provide (getting them to follow through on their offer is like pulling teeth)... Even though they always come back for hair services
.
However, I've come to the conclusion that if you own a house and I'm still renting, or if you drive the latest high end vehicle while I'm still driving a 76 Blazer or 98 Cavalier then damn rights you should pay the price I charge. I have spent endelss hours training and spending money to get educated in my field which reflects in my work... I might give ya a few freebies but if I don't see the reciprocation you are getting charged full price and then some.
I do give discounts to those unfortunate that appreciate my work, however to give discount to someone who has so much more than me seems like a burn. I have things I need to do and acquire as a groundcrew member. Perhaps not what others are trying to attain, but I have to build it for survival and to help others. That is my goal and I am charging what I am worth meanwhile educating every single one that sits in my chair as to what is happening in the world. Some seem to come for that more than for an amazing hairdo!...
