Re: Obama
I think the feeling for most in the United States is we are all very exhausted at watching daily on the news, corruption, million dollar bonuses for people who never break a sweat , the out right stealing of so many 401 k retirement funds from the enrons collapse, saving and loan scandal , and now all this borrowed money called bailouts. The first 700 billion dollar bailout from the last administration that so many were opposed to. Then watching AIG get millions while people lost their homes only to see the extravagent conventions and hunting trips these people went on with our money. 82k for 4 AIG exectutives going hunting in england and that was after their first bailout. Yes we are to the point that we want change.
So a candidate was voted in based on change, only this type of change was not what we were promised. Our new president is a fantastic speaker but I do think he too is overwhelmed and like many is throwing individuals (czars) at problems in hope of a roll the dice fix. I myself personally was very willing to give this a chance to work. But I am very concerned as to what is actually happening and the piece by piece disection of this great country and for what we stand for .
Benjiman Franklin once said:
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.
Where liberty dwells, there is my country.
God grant that not only the love of liberty but a thorough knowledge of the rights of man may pervade all the nations of the earth, so that a philosopher may set his foot anywhere on its surface and say: This is my country.
Remember this country was founded as a REPUBLIC- meaning " very limited government based on the rule of law" we are very much swinging towards democracy meaning ruled by a small group of people and making government larger.
