the current 1st hour free model sucks, and like i said is counter productive to the everything-open-source model that the world is moving towards. Thus the Veritas show lacks the integrity that it stands to represent. This is why it is not as successful as Mel wished it would be.

This all being said, i must say that when it WAS free i was very impressed with Mel's style and guests and was an avid fan even subscribing to the podcast. Since the business model was implemented i havent even paid attention to whose been on.

I saw the Cliff high interview on YouTube and downloaded it with a new respect for Mel thinking that Cliff insisted it be available for free.
Only thing was i downloaded only part of the interview. I am missing parts 12-15 and anything after 16. evidently my download helper didnt work for those episodes.

i was disheartened to find it pulled off Youtube when i arrived at my next hotel.

now im left on my cross country trip without those parts. sux right? yeah

find a better business model Mel.
The future is free, and there's money all around us now.
email me if you want some ideas how to get more fans, make some money, and have the show be free like it should be.

Thunderbird, let me ask you and anyone else who believes my show should be for free. Do you pay $5 per month to be posting here? I presume the answer is yes. That is exactly what I charge per month.

I have a suggestion for you and anyone who may be attempting to listen and read people's hard work for free. Try to produce a show and spend countless hours with your own time when you have businesses to run and a family to tend to and then come back to me and say you would love to do it for free. You will go bankrupt and will be divorced.

I embrace anyone who loves the open source concept. However, I consider my show to be done with the utmost quality. No one is forcing you to listen. I provide the first hour (87 minutes this week) for free. If you don't feel that's enough preview, then don't listen. If you listen to other shows, you will notice they are full of commercials. I don't have one single sponsor or commercial.

Next week's show comes directly from Norway (3.5 hours) uninterrupted. Try listening to that anywhere else without spending another 2-3 hours of commercials. Do you think I work for free? I'm being honest. My time is valuable and my resources are not free.

In summary, and respectfully, if you don't want to pay $1.25 per show (or $5 per month), which gives you a forum like this and a member chat system where you can chat with my guests, SIMPLY DO NOT LISTEN.

Should a book author spend a year writing a book so that you can read it for free? Absolutely not. Have you been in business for yourself? I bet you have not. For if you did, you would understand that labor and resources cost money, and when you don't have a lifeline to continue the effort, the business dies.

So to those of you who continue criticizing my efforts, simply don't listen and listen to other radio shows that will make you endure commercials and countless interruptions. That is the only way they can survive, unless they also adopt a subscription model. I am proud of Veritas' growth because guests really talk and members are really joining. Why? Do I really have to answer? I'm sure you've figured it out by now.

Let's agree to disagree and start your own show if you wish, but I would appreciate it if you don't endorse/condone people who STEAL my intellectual property. And please, to anyone who may come and say that Project Camelot is free, think again. Bill and Kerry do an outstanding job, but they have sponsors and a subscription model that was adopted on this very forum so they can continue doing what they do best.

So before you continue criticizing, have all your facts straight. It is becoming futile to reason sometimes. That's the way it's going to be. It was either adopting a subscription model or killing the show. Period.

This last show with Clif High took a long time in production and it was a 3-hour with absolutely no help. Would you like to make a product and have everyone steal it? Because that's exactly what happened here. Learn intellectual property law before you continue perpetuating this.

Respectfully,

Mel Fabregas
Veritas

P.S. By the way, you say you have helped people make millions and you are paying $5 per month here, yet, you don't agree for me to also charge $5, you haven't helped me, but you expect everything I do to be for free? Explain the reasoning behind your logic because I absolutely do not understand it.
