Yes, I think this is a key understanding.
We fear giving up the ego because we are led to believe we will be nothing without it. The reality is, we give up the less, we become the More. We are all individualization's of the infinite, not separate identities from it, but individualization's of it. To get back on the divine time line, we must realize we are more than the separate sense of identity, we are the I AM that is beyond definition based on the illusions of the world of form.
Oneness is not sameness.
We are unique divine flames, each one of us, and our own unique experiences contribute to the expression of our flames and our growth as co-creators in the schoolroom of the universe.
I AM you and you are me, but you are you and I AM.
The key realization for me years ago was:
You give everything you have to God and God will give everything it has to you. But as long as you hold onto what you believe you have,(generally out of fear or pride), then God can not fill your grail with the consciousness that God is... and we remain in the consciousness of separation, the consciousness of suffering.
The world will be raised up by those who go all the way, who give all they 'have' to the infinite within and let the Ocean of the infinite within, their I AM, merge into the drop.
