Really interesting post lock'N'load!
From my experience, Salvia magnifies our true fears - the ones we bury deep within our subconscious. These fears are then shown to us in the form of metaphor or symbolism.
For me, the experience was about death and loss.
I have tried Salvia a number of times - always chewing the leaves as per the Mazatec tradition. What I am starting to believe is that Salvia will not show us 'otherwords' or give a pure spiritual experience until we have overcome our fears. This is why most people who try Salvia always have a frightening experience. And that experience is always symbolical of their fears.
Personally I feel Salvia is a very good tool to confront and overcome our Ego's. But then I haven't tried any other form of entheogen - so I cannot say it is 'better' or 'worse'. I do know however that the Salvia experience is completely unlike any other entheogenic substance.
