Default Rabbis launch campaign to life Israeli blockade of Gaza

A group of rabbis and other 'people of conscience' have launched a
campaign calling for the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, and
other intentions to support peace and justice in the Israel/Gaza
area.

The full text of their statement - very fully set forth - is on

www.opednews.com.

The contentions and intentions of the campaign are based around
such verses from the Talmud as -

"Do not stand idly by when your neighbour's blood is being spilled"
(Lev. 19:16)

"On three things the world stands: on justice, truth, and on peace"
(Mishnah 1:18)

"Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of
wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed
go free, and that you break every yoke" (Isaiah 58:6)

The campaign organizers ask that others join them in a one-day
fast, 3rd Thursday of each month, to further their goals (as
set forth in the article on www.opednews.com)

Maybe some Avalonians would like to join them in this - or,
if not to fast, to meditate and remember this movement
on 3rd Thursday of each month?

Really, really inspiring to see this movement come out of
the horrors of the attack on Gaza in January.
