Staatssicherheit of
Ministerium für Staatssicherheit which means Ministry for State Security, and that it was the secret police and intelligence organization of the German Democratic Republic (GDR - East Germany). It says, "It was widely regarded as one of the most effective – and repressive – intelligence and secret police agencies in the world." It also says, "The Stasi infiltrated almost every aspect of GDR life."
