So do you have an answer to the original question?

I suggest that you have missed my point. In my original question bodzoyfa, I posed the situation of being
ALONE in a devastated environment. You are by yourself with no partner, children or neighbors around you. Everything you ever new existed, doesn't any more. I repeat - what good is gold or silver going to be then?
For a glimpse of what devastation will be like I, recommend Immanuel Velikovsky's
"Earth In Upheaval." This book is based on scientific and archeological discoveries over the years. It presents more than enough proof of what global devastation has done to life on earth in ages past.
