The Federal Reserve plans to hire a lobbyist to polish its public image.
Fed Intends to Hire Lobbyist in Campaign to Buttress Its Image http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...ci1AM&refer=us
Excerpts:
“People have been asking whether the Fed is capable of getting its job done right,” said Lynn Turner, a former chief accountant at the Securities and Exchange Commission. “Hiring a former lobbyist from Enron will surely make one wonder.”
One YouTube clip, of Florida Democratic Representative Alan Grayson’s grilling of Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman, has garnered almost 500,000 views in about a month. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXlxB...layer_embedded Posted in Avalon at:http://projectavalon.net/forum/showt...t=alan+grayson
This is quite significant. A few years ago, and for nearly a century before that, the Fed had no fear of a bad image in public opinion, since the public by and large saw the Fed as mysterious, obscure, and esoteric. Only recently, thanks to Ron Paul, the Campaign for Liberty, the work on
HR 1207 and the work of so many others and their activism and education, the Fed has become a public issue. Yes, the financial crisis brought it to the forefront, but in the past the central bank was rarely this vulnerable to public disconent, even during crisis.
It is a triumph that the Fed is now subject to widespread and significant criticism. It is a triumph that we have them scared.
