Brisk brushing of the hair two or three times a day with the type of hair brush that has tiny spherical knobs at the ends - this stimulates blood circulation into the scalp area and promotes hair folicle health. The trick is to brush with short brisk strokes, systematically covering all areas of the head so you don't inadvertently uproot strands of hair which would defeat the purpose. Pay special attention to stimulating the cranial sacral area at the base of the head and neck. A lot of stress accumlates in the musculature there, cutting off the circulation of chi to the head and scalp. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that as a culture, we spend so much time 'in our heads.' The head can no more be cut off from the heart than from the body without dire consequences. Brushing and yogic stretching (tensing and relaxation synchronized with breathing) can help relax the tightening of muscles in the neck and upper shoulders and restore proper pranic flow.
