Just a quick thought flash... but I tend to go with the info that human beings were fashioned/DNA modified/"created" by several other alien races... a combo of what we'd deem benevolent as well as malevolent... it makes sense that they would have an interest in their "offspring" as well as the earth itself. LOVE reigns ultimate.
