Interesting I find this thread at this point in time, and here's a slightly different spin on it.
I lost my job thanks to the economic crisis and in a way it was just a massive sigh of relief. I hated the job, hated the greed I saw from others, but above all I hated having to waste 8 hours a day spending precious thinking and energy on what I believe to be meaningless rubbish.
I never could hide my true self and nor would I even want to. I accepted along time ago that people think I'm weird or 'out there', just dont care anymore. I dont even think I care if I am ever employed again, sick of playing the game or doing what everyone else thinks I should be doing.
The last job interview I went to I told the employer that 'really, I want to make films more than anything'. The job position was a truck driver and naturally my 'true' aspirations were not taken too well and I didnt get the job.
Sorry for the long reply but I do think that the time for masquerading should be over for all of us. Be true to yourself .
