Default Re: Do you feel the need to keep your 'spiritual self' veiled in the workforce?

Great thread Dakini.

What I've observed, and it sounds like you have too - is that the person doing the interview is often times less qualified to perform their duties than you are, which makes hiring you a threat to their own job security. Strength and confidence are not communicated...it's in your presence.

Likewise, the vibration that you (or any of us!) emmanate is done without words. Your energy makes a far greater impression than anything you say. When asked, I've learned to keep my answers brief. Too much information offered in conversation, without the benefit of well-researched material or a thoroughly explored and documented timeline, lessens the validity of what you're trying to convey. It also gives your ego the opportunity to rear its' ugly head in a 'look how much stuff I know!' kind of vibe, compromising the integrity of what you're saying anyways! I know, I know - I think waaaay too much. But if you put yourself into their shoes, what kind of response would prompt you to research more yourself? And when you research more yourself, how much more solid is that information in your own mind?

I've thought about this quite a bit, but only after putting myself through a considerable amount of frustration at trying to wake up people who are not ready to wake up. There's a big difference between asking a question because you want to know the answer and asking a question for the sake of starting an otherwise empty conversation (How bout them Bears?!).. sorry to all you sports fans out there, especially any Bears fans - just trying to make a point. If after pointing them in a specific direction concerning what they asked about - like suggesting they watch a documentary or something, THEN I'm more than happy to go as deep as they want...on the subject that they themselves have actually looked into.

I think it almost has to be approached like a sale, unfortunately. How are you going to sell them on the idea of challenging everything they know? Keep in mind all of the avenues by which they have been programmed up until that point. Your energy is the point of attraction. What you know and feel is not something that's easily communicated. It's arrived at by personally taking the steps that lead you to those "Ah-ha!" moments. For me, I feel it's better to offer other links to follow or videos to watch before getting too much into it. Better chance that they'll start to get hungry for more truth, and you maintain your 'sane' status amongst your co-workers.
