They are the four cardinal points of the zodiac ,elements earth water air and fire.1111- INRI above the cross. Earth and water is the first birth ,or natural birth of man. Then there is air and fire,the 2nd, or spiritual birth of man.

Jesus comming with the fan in his hand, is symbolic of the mind that fans the divine spark into firery , and boundless potential.
