I didn't want to leave this picture in my reply, because I think it's ugly... however, people might forget the reference if I don't.
I don't know if others thought of this, but this monster looks like a decomposed Hog to me. I grew up on a ranch, and saw instances of deformities in pigs born, some would survive. The small inset even looks like there is a pigs snout... that's what I see.
