The problem for many of us is that we don't have an acre or two of land. Since we live in suburbia at least I can have a 16x20 garden plot next summer but that's about it. Heirloom seeds and not hybrid are definitely the way to go. City dwellers might want to stock up on seeds for sprouting. I found some alfalfa seeds tucked away in a drawer that are at least ten years old. I have been sprouting them to use them up and they are fine. So I have started stockpiling sprouting seeds also.
