Only half of Europe would speak German if the Allies didn't get together, the other half would be speaking Russian. But that's another story.
What is interesting is why WWII started.
Its' origins started after the Great Depression.
It caused the rise of dictators (eg. Mussolini, Hitler) and made countries desperately to find resources and land to heal their broken economies.
Does that scenario ring a bell?

The other 1/10th would be dead in camps as slaves. I am never going to forget the ultimate generational sacrifice that was WWII. It may be a long time ago, but events reach far into the future and respect should be paid to that fact alone.
