Default Re: Is this the start of an ice age ?

Hi eXchanger - I also like the little spiders and snakes, bug kills that the cold offers. At the same time, if the climate is changing, it's good that people are aware so we can roll with it and adapt without too much trouble.

In Canada, for instance, there was a Health Canada report that warned of the "harmful impact of climate change on the health of Canadians, particularly the young, elderly and aboriginals." (I clipped it out of the Globe and Mail, Jul23-08.) The Conservative government low-balled the release - everything really quiet - with a major climate change study!! Apparently, it was the second time it happened in one year!! So, it's been studied.

Why information isn't splashed around, so populations can prepare and move through it, is suspect IMO. The Health Canada report is called "Human Health in a Changing Climate: A Canadian Assessment of Vulnerabilities and Adaptive Capacity." Information can be obtained for free (as I recall) on the government website. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ewh-semt/clim.../index-eng.php

There was a similar study in 2007 "From Impacts to Adaptation" (specific impacts for each region of the country). http://adaptation.nrcan.gc.ca/assess/2007/index_e.php

Anyway, it is what it is. I heard the London UK school children had a snow day yesterday, and played outside - recess all day!! I sure wish 'disaster'/ change projections by governments wouldn't be secret, or quietly leaked, or whatever it is governments don't do for us.

peace
