No, thats absolutely totally wrong James. The Special Forces have an upraised sword with two arrows passing through it at 50 degrees, and the DE OPPRESSO LIBRE around the base. They will then have their special forces 'Group' background to this i.e 5th SF Group, 10th SF group etc etc.

(Oh and wikipedia is NOT the best source for information about special forces).

Combat Application Group have a green triangle with a sword on it pointing upwards, and the 'Delta' flash over it.

Colonel Charles Beckwith ( Vietnam vet ) officially created Delta force in 1977 after a year long exchange program with the SAS in the early 1960's. This is the official line but I feel there is more to the story. It was Colonel Beckwith who led the ill fated resque attempt of the 52 US hostages being held in the US embassy in Iran in 1980.

Colonel Beckwith was a hard as nails, total absolute consumate quite professional. He indeed was the founder of CAG, and his time with the SAS was indeed formative to his founding thoughts.

Who was your 'friend' working for? if it was the South Africans, he would have to be ex-SADF, if it was Rhodesians he would have to be either ex-Rhodesian Light Infantry or Special Air Service, and if he was a mercenary and in Mozzie and NOT a native, he and his group would of been hunted down like a dog by all sides, and do not ever underestimate how damn good the RLI / SAS and SADF trackers were / are.

Oh and the rifle? its either an R4 or an FN FAL depending on which country supplied the arms!

Sorry to be a bug bear James, but your military terms descriptions are all over the place and contain alot of inaccuracies that i feel you need to know about so you can make informed choices about what information you are recieving.
