A friend of mine went to Bhutan a few years back and picked up a nasty parasite. She saw different doctors for a year telling them that it felt as if something was crawling inside of her, they did not believe her. They thought she was imagining things. She was horribly tired , bloated, terrible pain, her skin looked grey and it was if she aged 10 years in one year. She had trouble focusing which was a problem because she was an engineer working on oil refineries in a senior capacity. Eventually she "passed" this small snake like thing, which means it was a Huge parasite, that she took in with her to the hospital. They were all very sorry that they had not believed her. She easily could have died, and she did die a few years later. She never really recovered from that.
