Re: GAZA CRISIS Causes Some To Question US Israeli Policy
Blastawaycas - There was someone who screamed "you've done it". It was Jon Snow from Channel 4 interviewing an Israeli minister. He was very skilful and professional in his questioning, but also very aggressive, and you could see that it hit its mark, as the minister was very uncomfortable and scarcely able to may any reply.
It may help if Israel can see how others view their actions, although the usual response is "that's just Britain".
There are several lawyers in Britain who are looking into whether Israel could be indicted for war crimes, although others feel this would be difficult- due mainly to the likelihood of a veto from the U.S. in the Security Council.
I do feel that this shelling of the U.N. centre in Gaza City has put the whole situation on a different footing. Since the previous hit on a U.N. school the witnesses have been the head of U.N. affairs in Gaza and the head of the Red Cross in the area - and these are voices that Israel cannot deny.
I am not suggesting that this will make any lasting difference, but it does bring more "muscle" to those "at the top", and hopefully an increased sense of a cry for justice for those of us who could be considered "at the bottom" in terms of influence, but in a sufficient groundswell can make a difference.
