Why Don't You Change?

here's a really great bit of jiddu krishnamurti speaking, with a pretty valid ultimatum for oneself;

Re: Why Don't You Change?

Krishnamurti was one rare man.

He is right. The psychological conditioning forces a trend of directions in humans. The belonging to the memory of the race totally conditions the psychological into a false sense of security. And wars both challenge that sense of security and force changes in the social organization of the races and cultures.

But if man is conditioned, then free will is an illusion. Because all impression of choices already are part of what is acceptable within the consciousness of the race, the rest being considered a sort of evil.

I'm glad you guys like him too, reading 'Freedom from the Known'
really lit me up when i read it years ago, and i can dip in anywhere and start re-reading it anytime. Fantastic man, and so good to see him on Youtube.

Did you know he was 'fostered' by a certain Mme Blavatsky to be the head of the Theosophical society? On becoming the 'leader' he dissolved the movement declaring it ridiculous, gave away all the money, and then devoted his life to "setting men absolutely, unconditionally free"

Now that's style and grace imo.

Yes, he caused quite a stir in the parlors of the 'in-crowd'. He was to be the new Avatar of the ages, and he saw right trough their guises. Not so unlike some of the games that are playing out today.

He never gave up challenging us in an intelligent, persisent and gentle way. He did this because he knew we have free will. He is a living demonstration of how much free will can be exercised in the face of temptation by the corrupt.

Our mind is easily corrupted, but our heart is incorruptible. It is a matter of activating our heart-will.

As the book, 'A Course in Miracles' states: All it takes is a subtle shift in perception. The book came as a result of the insecurity and endless strife that is the result of our giving up our full power for the small change that is offered us as security when we conform to the societal norm.

We forget to listen to the still voice within. That is laziness, not a lack of free will. We like to think that the problems are the fault of others, and refuse to admit that we gave our consent by default.

The small voice within is our lifeline to that which is Real. It never ceases to remind us: Look again! That is all it takes.

"A tool for the globalist elite to sway the masses into accepting a one world order through 'new age beliefs' "

Thats how one person I know describes him and his work. I think he is awesome, but I don't agree on everything he says. He does however have many, many valid points.

A piece of the puzzle for certain, but certainly not the whole jigsaw.

He was good to bump into along the way. His personal story was inspiring. He is closer to the simplicity of a wordless religion that might be one that will set us right in an inner connectedness, instead of outword lip servitude.
I think your friend's quote is quite unfair myself. But I have never regarded anyone outside myself providing more than a suggestion, a proposal for navigation. I have to do the steering myself.

Hey I never said my friend was right! I do my own thinking, and its alot more along the lines of where he was going than the 'lip service only' religions seen today.

I would love to see a beautiful, peaceful, loving world that lived as one in harmony than the squalid fetid mess we live in today.

Truly humbled.
Thank you.

(P.S.: I vote for finding a new word for 'thinking'. Clearly we aren't talking about logical deduction here anymore.)

Czymra - you hit the proverbial nail on the head!

"a new word for 'thinking'. Clearly we aren't talking about logical deduction here anymore."

Indeed, and i, er, 'think' that the distinction must be between 'belief' and 'knowledge'.

To 'believe' is one thing, and is the product of thought.....and intellect.
To 'know' is another thing entirely, and the act of a living heartsoul.

Interesting.
I had thought of a completely new word. I'm sure there are many people that would say that 'believe' is not a part of the intellect but that knowledge is.

I have the feeling what you want to make a disctinction between 'assumption' and 'certainty'.
Since I've come to this forum my head's been all jumbled up. o_O
