Eco Dome
These are forms of Home building that are both cheap and last forever when compared to conventional homes.
http://www.calearth.org/EcoDome.htm (sorry these where photos which didn't copy over but are at the original link) http://www.fishershotcrete.com/architectural/ No wood except trim able to withstand 200+ mph winds.. bullet proof and with insulation R-factors that embarrass conventional homes indeed heating and cooling can be accommodated by solar and passive systems this is the future. |

Today's houses, even the million-dollar ones, are built with particle board (wood chips glued together) and staples. It takes less than twenty years for them to be revealed as the pieces of toxic garbage they are. Plastic plumbing, fixtures, ridiculous energy usage and water consumption. City standards are fifty years behind the needs of the times. Wattle, another virtually free material, is beautiful and can last for centuries. Old tires can be used to build virtually indestructible walls. Water can be reused, very little need be discarded. Houses CAN be built in such a way that their energy consumption is almost nil. Most of these methods are very low-tech, just what we need. |

Re: Eco Dome
Now these dwellings and the hobbit house that someone posted on Avalon weeks ago are the types of house I have seen in my visions for years now. They are sought of between the two, only the dwelling I see has most of it underground with about a third above ground. If I could get that in a nice spot I would go for it. All eco friendly and everything.........ah that would be nice, alternate sources of energy........

Re: Eco Dome
I can imagine my radiant zone eventually becoming something like the Shire.

Re: Eco Dome
I love the Shire. It seems wholesome and magical.
