about insects as food
I searched the threads with "insect food" as keywords. Didn't find any threads about this subject. So...
Insects you find all over. Even after some cataclysm or disaster you'll find insects. We western people don't like the idea of eating insects. But they are very nutricious and there's an unlimited abundance. Just turn over a stone, and you'll find some. An advantage over other food is, you don't have grow it and so you don't have to stay in one place too. I've read somewhere 100 grams would suffice to for fill your daily needs of vitamines and elements. Most larva are fit to eat. They often taste nut-like I hear. Maybe there are some insects you should not eat? Anyone has experience? |

We eat insects and spiders that live underwater. We call 'em lobsters and crabs and such. I thought about that a couple weeks ago when I was out hiking and a big black-and-silver tarantula stalked across the path. They don't smell bad...and spiders do have a smell.
Many years ago, my wife and I went out for some celebration with another couple, and we all ate steak and lobster, and drank a little too much. Rick and I made the girls mad at us talking about the above, how lobsters are just big underwater spiders, etc. That night I had a dream in which I was eating huge beetles. In my dream, they turned out to be delicious. I woke knowing that in my case, death by starvation was unlikely:bleh: |

100G's is a little over 3 ounces, yikes!! I always thought that lobsters were like giant incests under water but worse cause they scream when you boil them & their eyes are black like endless pits of death.. I am however glad to learn i was not alone to feel that way, woot!
