The WOW! signal - what is it and why was it made public?
 

I'm sure we've all heard of SETI.

It is a number of projects to find intelligent life in the Universe. One method is by detecting radio signals in space.

As far as I know, the only radio signal that stood out appeared in 1977, which was nicknamed the WOW! signal because someone circled the data and wrote WOW! by it.

Of course, no one in SETI has ascribed a definite cause of this signal, but a UFO is not to be ruled out. However, it leaves a question.

Why did SETI make this signal public? This must have caused people to believe in UFOs more as it was probably the reason that sprang to mind.

Was it disinfo? The signal's story always includes non UFO theories on what it could be (look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_si...nal.27s_origin on the wikipedia article.)

so it could have been a method of saying that if you get strong radio signals from space, it definately isn't a UFO.

There have been plenty of signals found, here's another:

Interviewing John Hogue on Jan 03, 2006, Whitely Strieber said that during the period between Sept. 30 - Oct. 1, 2002, Very Large Array Radio Telescope in Socorro, New Mexico, observed extremely powerful signals in radio-spectrum range from centre of the Galaxy. They lasted 10 minutes each and appeared every 77 minutes for 7 hours.

John Hogue was extremely interested and said that number 777 is esoteric number of the Divine.

777 is the number of the Divine.

Its transmission occurred 20 days before it is indicated on The Great Cross in Hendaye.

Precisely when Earths axis of rotation become parallel to that of our Galaxy creating with plane in which all its components rotate around its core exact angle of 90 deg.

SETI have always been barking up the wrong tree lol they are looking up the wrong end of the spectrum. They should be looking for a high-energy intelligent pulse up in the UV and higher, not way down in radio... what are we going to find there? not an advanced civilization capable of interstellar travel.
I guess thats why some of the ET groups went with a more 'direct' approach but once again the PTB and the Media managed to convine people that 2 guys with some string and a plank were responsible :mfr_omg: how stupid the public are to not take this more seriously;

It is sadly, you are spot on. A shameful waste of expenditure. That pic above says it all with the crop circle answer to the voyager probe right beside a radio telescope used for the SETI scam. Head in the clouds whilst ET is right here knocking on the front door.

SETI is a farce institute whose establishment is more intent on debunking and dismissing possible extraterrestrial phenomena like some ufo sightings than actually finding anything.

Radio waves would dissipate at a certain distance anyway. Its an outdated and completely unproven method of supposedly 'searching' for intelligent life.

And if Seth Shostak is any indicator, SETI is doing anything but searching for extraterrestrial intelligences.
