its quite a good place to live -- right next to Toronto

it is very clean

also - unlike a lot of places,
that have biting flies year round,
we don't get them,
from aug til may

in the city, maybe a few mosquitos -

its up north that you get the black flies for april/may

then, i think, the frogs eat them

This is the 6th largest (and safest) city in Canada - population of 700,000 people and 481 parks/greenways. Interestingly, the City Council has 3 male & 8 female members. Keep up the good work Hazel!

I can sense her familial presence, the Grandmother of all the residents, loving and protecting her children and providing a feeling of security like many Grandmothers do.

What comes to mind is "The Matriarch of Mississauga".

Thank-you so much for posting this! Every city in the world should be like this one! Perhaps we need to fire the irresponsible men...and put responsible elderly women in charge...to get us out of debt and war! I'm very serious! Wouldn't this get us very close to Nirvana?

i onced tapped into her akashic records,
it was amasing,
she did the same thing, in the floating temples of lemuria

she runs a modern day lemuria

she attracts fortune 500 companies,
and, makes them play by her rules
with a council of 8
(and, if anything of them, do NOT have integrity
they stand out, like sore thumbs)
she gets rid of them

she truly is, quite amasing

NO ONE will even run against her

although, i admit, that, i have often thought about working for her

(and, being mayor) :mfr_lol:

it would be pretty easy to follow her...
she blazed a trail, where, there was NO path
and, created a free way !!!

she is on automatic pilot

the politicans also,
can NOT get her,
as, she won't align herself with a particular party
and, doesn't need their money

she works for the good of all

being anywhere, she is at, is always a joy

YUP--everyone in the world should watch this video
and, take careful notes

this is a world class city - without many problems

when they surface - you fix them !!!

in 16 years living the heart of this city / one of the best parts

i have rarely, if ever, even heard, a burgular alarm,
heard, a police siren, and, this city,
is surrounded by about 6 million people,
if you go out, 1 hr, in every direction,
from the city hall of toronto

only less than 1 million people, live here in mississauga

i do NOT even have bad neighbours !!!

to the south of me, eagles/and, osprey fly often

The latest project which we drive by every day are the two condominium towers dubbed, "The Marilyn Monroe" towers. Also Mississauga is next going to build a village center to give that portion of Mississauga a small town feel.

The demographics here is a virtual United Nations of all races and cultures. If you like ethnic foods we have everything in Mississauga, plus at least 3 fabulous buffet restaurants. We also have a Denny's :-)

We are two to two and one-half hours from our beloved lakes in "Cottage Country". For some reason a "portal" in a small town on the granite shield was pointed out to me this month and it seems it might be wise for me to consider pulling together a small "Ascension Community". A community of "Ascenders"? LOL!!!

The southern ends of Mississauga hold remnants of the Carolinia Forest where I can still see my beloved azaleas and rhodendrons and Hollies.

Next door to Mississauga is the town of Oakville which is replete with million dollar plus homes and beautifully landscaped with old oak trees.

One is never more than 20 minutes from Lake Ontario and there are some beautiful waterfronts on LakeShore in Mississauga.

I just discovered by the Old Lighthouse one of the best fish and chips restaurants I have yet tried.

I'm hoping we have lots of beautiful snowflakes this year -- each snowfall is a work of art. Yes, towards the end of winter the grey snow sitting in piles by the roads does start to dull one's senses.

Yeah, the just for the hal-i-but fishes, are amasing !!!

(on my 2nd last trip to england, they freaked out, when i wanted it breaded) LOL

real fish 'n chips - contain halibut

they are so good, that's were we should hold the neXt avalon meeting

and, then go next door to starbucks

We had a gr8 lunch / coffee / and, dinner - lets do that again soon !!!

i'll bet we consumed about 7000 calories :LOL:
in 6 hrs

i think i burned off 8,000 tapping into stuff !!!

I didn't even have to open the thread to know who you talking about. I have seen pieces on her on the CBC. She is an amazing woman. She has more energy in her 80's than I had in my teens.

I would not be surprised to hear that leaders from other cities come to visit her and see what she is doing right. She must have some powerful support team too.

Hello Suzan. I would love to hear Your opinion on this little by-law in The Corporation of the City of Mississauga, which I imagine had approval of the CEO/mayor. Here it is:


By-Law Number 785-80
Nuisance Type Noise By-Law
(amended by By-laws 226-82, 62-92)
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Mississauga has passed a by-law to control noise
under The Environmental Protection Act, 1971, as amended, being By-law 360-79;
AND WHEREAS provisions of that by-law are not sufficient to prohibit or regulate all
noises within the municipality;
AND WHEREAS Section 354(1)(118) of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, c. 284,
enables a municipality to pass by-laws for prohibiting and regulating within the municipality
unusual noise or noises likely to disturb the inhabitants;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the City of Mississauga ENACTS
as follows:
1. No person shall in the City of Mississauga create, cause or permit any unusual noise or
noises likely to disturb the inhabitants.
2. For the purposes of this by-law and without limiting the generality of Section 1, the
following noises shall be deemed to be unusual noises, or noises likely to disturb the
inhabitants, namely:
(a) the sound or noise from or created by any radio, phonograph, television, public
address system, sound equipment, loud speaker, or similar device or devices, or
any musical or sound-producing instrument of whatever kind when such device or
instrument is played or operated in such volume as to annoy or disturb the peace,
quiet, comfort or repose of any individual in any dwelling house, apartment house,
hotel or any other type of residence.
(b) the grating, grinding or rattling, screaming, screeching or similar noise or sound
caused by the operation of a motor of any kind which by reason of the condition of
disrepair or maladjustment create the unusual noise.
(c) crying, shouting or loud speaking in or adjacent to any public street or place, or
near private swimming pools.
3. Every person who contravenes any provision of this by-law is guilty of an offence.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Provincial Offences Act, R. S. O. 1990, c.P. 33 upon
conviction a person is liable to a fine of not more than $5,000, exclusive of costs. (By-law
226-82, 62-92)
4. Where there is a specific provision in By-law 360-79 the provisions of that by-law shall
take precedence over any provision of this by-law.
ENACTED and PASSED this 15th day of October, 1980.

An unbelieveable law!!! This epitomises why people need to be VIGILANT and not let their LEADERS make laws in secret that people only find out about when they break them. Please make a new year's resolution to be vigilant or you will become slaves in a few years (although people with big credit card balances and mortagages are already slaves in my view - look up the word USURY :mfr_omg:)
