Not sure what you're getting at - sorry.

But thanks for the vote - even though it was against me.

Strange, I always imagined that a vote was a private choice, how were you able to find out that I voted against you then,

Sounds a wee bit dodgy to me.

Can you tell me how you found out..

it was i suppose a question as I always thought the swaztika X ends pointed to the right and the chappies pic shows them going to the left, gust asking for the difference was all.

I'll be honest with, I didn't think I could tell - I thought these polls were anonymous. But shortly after I started the poll, and some votes came in, I noticed that the tally numbers for the four options stood out against the background. I clicked it just to see what would happen, and it broke down who voted for what.

I guess that might turn some people off, but I don't think it really matters - its all in good fun right?

While all this swastika stuff is fun (nothing like discussing the primary symbol of the world's worst and deadliest political party to add a cheer to the thread), there is something more important and fantastic to discuss:

My candidacy for moderator.

Universal health care for none!

p.s..

when you create a poll...

you can choose whether or not you want to be able to see who voted for what.
You must have chosen that option.
as many other polls do not have that activated.
You didnt know eh?

hey susan, yeah... people offering themselves as moderator didnt work out the greatest...
that was kind of a silly move to begin with.

Nope - didn't know. This is the first time I have used a poll. I thought they were all the same.

I thought that instead of starting a thread titled "Should there be an elected moderator on the team," and having a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of elections, I figured I'd just nominate myself, and go from there. After all I am the awsomest person I know.

I second all your earlier nominations too.

Cheers

I was reading through this thread for nothing more than the nonsense entertainment value with no intention of voting (actually I still have none because I really don't care either way).....just have to mention though that the above comment caught my eye and if I were to jump into the fray, I would definitely say no based on that!

I can't believe how many libertarian/republican every man for himself types there are on this forum. Sorry for the labeling (which I hate) but it seems to express my thoughts at the moment.

If we're all about surviving and building a new better world how do you propose doing that if it's dog eat dog survival of the fittest?

"Universal health care for none" was supposed to be funny because if elected, I would have absolutely no powers whatsoever to create a good health care plan. Just a joke - not a deep statement of political philosophy. I am sorry if you took offense.

I actually support universal health care in the analog world . . .

Apparently, my attempts at humor have been ill recieved, and for that I apologize. I have a tendancy to let my irreverence interfere with the effective communication of my ideas; let me dispense with the humor and make a serious attempt to re-explain what I'm doing here.

After reading Kerry Cassidy's post on the mods, I did a lot of thinking about recent conflicts between regular posters and moderators, and tried to figure out what, if anything, could ever be done to curb what will ALWAYS be a source of tension on forums like these. I myself have never had any posts edited or bad run ins with the mods - except for Karen yesterday, and that was peanuts compared to some of the mod/poster arguments I have seen. It dawned on me that if one or two of the moderators were picked by the forum members, that could possibly cut down on the mod/poster tension - I don't think anything could ever end it permanently, but moderator elections might reduce it.

Then I thought about getting that idea out there to people, and the first thing I wanted to do was start a thread titled "Should We Have Mod Elections?" Then I realized that that would be yet another thread where we sit around and debate, and argue, etc. I figured rather than start a fight over "should we" or "shouldn't we," I'd nominated myself and plant the seed. Why not? I like Avalon, I think moderator elections are a good idea, and a vote would be fun. I really didn't think there was anything to argue about there - people would come, vote, and maybe post why they gave their yay or nay. Believe you me, I was - and am - prepared for the negative stuff; I know the serious ideas (not the jokes) I have about the issues here on Avalon and Camelot put me in the minority. I just figured there would be nothing to fight about, or get offended over - it would be an up and down vote on the group's confidence in my moderating abilities.

That I will ultimately lose, well, is a given (although winning would be cool too). I guess what is most dissappointing, and surprising given that most here bemoan their lack of a real influence or voice in the power structures of the real world, is the voter turnout. How many thousands of people have accounts here? And only 50 people have voted - a third commiting to the useless options? This experience, at least slightly, harkens back to the comments I made on another thread earlier this week (or possibly late last week); much of the lack of power we have over the real world's socioeconomic systems is our own fault - the PTB have enjoyed increasing, unbridled power because of our own apathy and real world inaction. Many would blame the NWO for the world's problems; I think we should blame ourselves.

The course this thread has taken is not exactly what I envisioned when I started it, but it is the poll that is worth it all. If you don't want to post here, at least vote. If you don't want to vote for me, get together via the PM system or the private boards and figure out who to nominate, and put them to a public vote. I second the nomination of both eXchanger and the Flyingpyramid.

Again, I think that having one or two mods out of the whole group come from the main body of posters is fair, potentially calming, and just a good idea. They should also be term limited seats.

I am truly sorry if I have offended anyone in any way, and I hope this sets it right.

Yes Dan.....That is correct you do need to think more before you post. Now I made a poll for you and totally blew you out of the water maybe you can create a poll and see who wants YOU to go and stay. lol. I wonder if the results will be what you assume, as they were not exactly what you assumed about me with my poll.

All this is helping us get a reality check. That is all.....

If you would have said that at the start you would have got my vote along my with my belief that Exchanger would also make a fantastic mod.

As a voice of reason, your words could not please me more. I agree, that is what should have appeared at the beginning of this thread, not three pages deep.

:mfr_lol:

"A douche is a device used to introduce a stream of water into the body for medical or hygienic reasons, or the stream of water itself. The word comes from the French language, in which its principal meaning is a shower (it is thus a notorious false friend encountered by non-native speakers of English; the phrase for vaginal douching is douche vaginale, meaning vaginal shower).

The word can refer to the rinsing of any body cavity but usually applies to vaginal irrigation, rinsing of the vagina. A douche bag is a piece of equipment for douching: a bag for holding the water or fluid used in douching (the term douche bag can also be used as an insult). To avoid transferring intestinal bacteria into the vagina, the same bag must not be used for a vaginal douche and an enema."
