Re: Election results!!!
Spoken like a true republican good for you!!!:naughty:
Hey there's still going to be 80,000 students in UT by 2010.:toot: I love Texas even if it is a republican state, is all good :thumb_yello: 207 electoral votes for Obama 129 electoral votes for Mccain |
Re: Election results!!!
Again Shellie you make a good point.
When the numbers are in this time like 04 the popular vote will reflect the college vote. Colleges if abused can be like caucuses but in this case that wont be a problem. I'm a UK citizen and believe UK and US should have a representational system. I feel for McCain because he is wearing the brunt of the Bush presidency. |

I do not look forward to going to work tomorrow to face all the glum rednecks if Obama wins-and it looks like he is, in a landslide no less. He may just be the next illuminati torch bearer-but I do like Michelle Obama-if her spirit and integrity is just an act, it's a darn good one. I'd much rather she be prez... |
Re: Election results!!!
I'm amazed how close the popular vote is running nationwide.
McCain is doing much better than I expected. |
Re: Election results!!!
Thanks for that, Shellie :original: I'm still a bit confused but I'm wondering if its similar to the way we do it in the UK.
We are divided into counties (I would think the whole of the UK could fit into one of your states :lol3:). Each county - depending on its size - is likely to be sub-divided by north, south, east and west. Each will have parliamentary candidates - one for each of the political parties that puts up a candidate. (We do have some jokers, like one headed by Screaming Lord Sutch :original:) People go out and vote for their candidate and it is the one who has the most votes in that particular constituency who wins his/her seat in parliament. The party that wins the most counties (seats) becomes the one who forms a government. Whoever gets the second highest number of seats becomes the opposition. It isn't particularly fair because it doesn't represent the national share of the vote. One party - the third (Liberal Democrats) has been calling for proportional representation for years as it is the fairest way, reflecting the national share of the vote.:original: If that doesn't make sense, well, it's 3.30am now :original: |

Re: Election results!!!
Bush won the popular vote vote by 3 mill in 04. Obama will win it by more as he will win the college vote by more. He's 1.6 mill ahead at the moment and we're still in the early projection phase ahead of the west coast states.
The intricacies of college votes apply to McCain as well as Obama. In UK Allie we know you're right. I remember Lab and Con accusing Libs of being centrist. Pick a side they said while they both ended up picking the same one - the centre. |
Re: Election results!!!
Hey, who's the republican???
I voted for George Carlin, remember? |
Re: Election results!!!
|
Re: Election results!!!
Ah - they always go for the LibDem's throats and yet there are actually some very good people in that party.
In the last general election I was flummoxed by the fact that on a pre-election program, the studio audience booed Tony Blair as he walked on; were indifferent to Michael Howard and cheered Charles Kennedy. Blair won. Howard was next, Kennedy last. Bewildering, really.:original: If all the people that said a vote for the LibDem's is wasted actually voted for them........:wink2: |
Re: Election results!!!
Its all over, :mfr_omg:
the Illuminati wins again. :wall: BoRiNg.... |
Re: Election results!!!
Hey Shellie I'm voting for Shrek , although I love George Carlin.:naughty:
297 electoral votes for Obama 139 electoral votes for McCain Obama is now president folks !!! |
Re: Election results!!!
Well, Frank, at least you haven't got a party led by Screaming Lord Sutch:lol3
: Who dresses the part, too.:original: We have some barmy, fringe parties here in the UK:lol3: But at least it raises the odd smile :original: |
Re: Election results!!!
Obama WINS President!
As a Australian, I was hoping that John McCain would win. Is Election day in America is a nother 'day that changed the world'? Since U.S.A is a *megapower*. Would the change in President affect the way most-all humans in the world? How are Obama policies on the rest of the world? |
Re: Election results!!!
irregardless of plots and what not, i am in awe and happy obama won !
|
Re: Election results!!!
It's a projection.
|
Re: Election results!!!
I'm confused, Shellie. It seems pretty definite over here in the UK.
One of the black American members of the informal panel here has been in tears. Big announcements about the 44th President, with the odd mention of a potential landslide. The McCain people look very glum. What happens now, then? Projection-wise?:original: |
Re: Election results!!!
haha, woot!
No george bush number 3!! nice job peoples. |
Re: Election results!!!
All hail the new Messiah! "It is a rising Sun" (Bill Clinton 2000) This will be the last President the US will ever have. We'll see what kind of change he truly brings. I myself don't think it matters which one won tonight. The change, in my opinion, will be the end of Liberty and Bill of rights. In the words of tiny tim, "God bless us everyone" We're gonna need it.

Re: Election results!!!
Some of my children, nieces and nephews are dark skin and felt discriminated against because of the color of their skin, so you excuse for tears a falling down my cheeks. Now I can tell my daughters, nieces and nephews that is okay to be dark skin be proud of who you are for it really does not matter how you look in the outside is what is inside that counts.:thumb_yello: Is okay if you want to be a cynic, hope your children will never be discriminated against. This is a historical moment irregardless of what you may think.:yay::giveup: Tomorrow is another day folks, my friends and nephews who died in 911 and in this war will never come back but at least the war will soon end, I am done being angry at this goverment. I pray the troops can come home soon and that we can begin to heal this world. I care not to win a senseless war,I just want peace.

Re: Election results!!!
Since the President of the America does have the power. One command could affect the rest of the world for 1000 years...that type of power... How would Obama shape the world.

Re: Election results!!!
I was not too thrilled about either candidate but I do feel that this is a day of joy for many who in the past couldn't even sit in the same bus or drink water from the same tap and this is a day to celebrate that racism is dying everyday. It's not dead yet, but we are definitely evolving as humans.
Slowly but surely. Now let's hope Obama doesn't screw it up in the white house! LOL |
Re: Election results!!!
I can't say that I've felt strongly about either candidate. During the election I felt McCain was more erratic in behaviour partly I think because he was genuinely torn between reality and necessity.
Perhaps the PTB have a plan that involved ending slavery, ending segregation, promoting civil rights and enabling minorites and women that they have the right to lead. I've watched these candidates since the beginning run themselves into the ground physically and emotionally. Maybe it's a show but they still did it. Kudos to them and now we have to hold Obama to his promises. It's easy to sit and sneer but an amazing thing did just happen. |
Re: Election results!!!
OK, bit drunk, 04:41 uk time, pretty much means that obama has won then, does it reeeaaalllyyy...make any difference??? they are both under the influence of the same nutters after all....
