In the early years of my adolescence, I had over a space of five years, about as many girlfriends. Then I met my first wife and was sure she was "the one." Our relationship had its ups and downs which I came to understand was quite normal. Deep down inside I was slowly beginning to realize though, that something didn't feel quite right.

A bit like riding a bike and having that ever present fear that a wheel was going to come off. It took just four and a half years for that wheel to finally come adrift and we separated. I vegetated for about six months before dipping my toe in the waters of romance again.

After another two years and a dozen relationships, I finally found a woman whom I thought was perfect. Now my first wife and I would have at least two flaming rows a week - this woman and I lived together for some six months and never even had a difference of opinion.

Perfection was how I would have described our relationship - and we all know that perfection is not attainable don't we? Sure enough, before the end of 1963 she had married her fiancee. Was I staggered? Of course I was.

Then in 1966 I met my present wife Elaine. She was nice, understanding and above all, as honest as the day was long. We were married in December 1967 and I can stand up and say with pride, that I had once again, found perfection. The difference being, that this time it has lasted.

In the forty odd years of our marriage, we have never argued. Sure, we have different opinions about some things, but hey, that's only human. I don't try to force my opinions down her throat and she doesn't try forcing hers down mine.

So my answer to your question rhythm, is that "Yes the perfect relationship is attainable." Both Elaine and I have found our soul mates - we have the same thoughts on many topics, and often make the same comments in unison.

Can't improve on that. :original:

rhythm, if we don't meet before, I'm sure we will meet in the realm beyond.

To have a love like Elaine's and mine, I'm sure is everybody's ultimate aim. I like to think it is the final level in this dimension. We have so much in common that it's certain that we have both been companions in past lives. We just know too much of what the other one of us is thinking or experiencing for it to be any other way. :original:

we have all taken physical journeys far and wide to discover who we are ... to find "our selves ..."

some journey farther than others ...

all our self journeys arrive at the same destination ...

a realization ...

wherever we go ... there we are ...

and then the realization is that the journey is not one of finding our selves externally ...

the truth we seek can simply be found within ...

Isn't it funny that when you search for something you've lost, it's always in the last place you look?

When searching for the truth, don't discard anything you see or hear that you can't understand or believe. Store it for the day when you "see the light." It may just be that what you were searching for was within you all the time.

:thumb_yello:

absolutely ... never dismiss anything for it may be the piece you have been waiting for to connect your dots ... when we dismiss what arrives to us ... the universe then feels we didn't get it and then presents us with more of the same ... different themes perhaps (you know ... when we find our selves saying ... "why's this happening to me ...") ... until we do allow it ... could've just been open to it the first go round ... and stored it ... like brinty writes ...

Re: Be here NOW

When humanity was created, it was a new experience for the individual who had no way of knowing what was right and good, and what was wrong and bad. Humanity had to be pre-programmed with how to react to certain events.

Danger punched the panic button causing adrenalin to flow and thus a person was given the extra incentive to either stay and fight, or run and hide - this became known as the "fight or flight" syndrome.

Fear is another name for this condition. But, fear can be overcome by knowledge and logical thinking. As a child I recall walking home down the middle of the street at night after having seen a scary movie. When I think back now, I realize I was in more danger from cars than anything I'd seen in that movie.

Things that scared the cr4p out of me when I was ten or eleven, now don't even rate a gasp. Why? because my imagination has been stretched to its limit and nothing scares me any more. I remember also an afternoon when I watched two horror movies and didn't sleep at night without my bicycle lamp turned on under the blankets.

After two nights I had to buy a new battery for it and believe me, I was too scared to ask my parents for the money. I eventually realized that I'd been sleeping in that bed by myself for ten years or more and nothing bad had happened to me. So I beat my fear of horror movies

It wasn't long before I worked out that the biggest fear is of the unknown. I beat that too by thinking how could I be scared of something I didn't know? I guess that now, in this day and age, everyone is scared of dying. Well, that's tough, because you can't avoid it.

Wake up to the fact that it is inevitable and the existence that comes after is going to be worth waiting for. You will experience more warmth, love and light that you ever thought was possible.

Fear can be beaten. But if you don't beat it, the PTB and the negative forces will use it to make you into a whimpering, cowering apology for a human being. Stand up and face your fears, recognize them for exactly what they are, scare mongering to keep you dumbed down.

Take your fears, and in the words of an old song, "put 'em in a box, tie 'em with a ribbon, and throw 'em in the deep blue sea." Doing that will give you the freedom that is yours by right.

Brinty, you're a wise, wise man...your wisdom is really great, thank you so much for sharing...

I personaly am not scared of dying...actually, as time goes by, I seem to become scareless...I simply try to convey all that I know, that no one should be afraid of dying...if they could only understand the difference between:

1. being in fear FOR your life
2. being in fear ABOUT your life

I'm not afraid of the death...that's why I'm not afraid for my life...

The second one is only one thing I'm still afraid...afraid not to be here any more and give my endless love to all that I love, to all that is...but I know I must overcome this, I must let go...and the moment I will be able to let go, I'll know I'll be ready for something more...whatever that might be...

I'm looking forward to it...

Thanks guys :thumb_yello:
great reponses
So realy fear is a primal response
a fear of lack , of survival ,suffering
and yes that old favorite death ..
I remember as a child the fear i had of my
mom ,as she herself was so full of fear herself
from a harsh upringing ,and never feeling safe
and as a result passed it on to me , not feeling safe that is..
I Have had to work realy hard to get thru that and lots of other
stuff ,to much to go into here and bore the @um of you ...and i am still insecure at times WHAT I KNOW MOST OF FEAR IS THAT IT IS WITHOUT DOUBT WHERE LOVE IS NOT ...If i only learn to love in this life i be satisfied ,mmmmm maby i will do a post on what realy is love , i feel a contemplation coming on ..
So love to here eny other views on fear before i move it on ..rhythmmmx

What is this constricting feeling we call fear?
When you imagine the future and leave the here

The fear of the unknown...the fear of death
We each get closer with each passing breath

The fear of annihilation...the fear to not be
This arises when you think you are the body

The impetus to survive through fight or flight
Is it not true that we die every single night?

When you realize who you are all fears cease
Consciousness is eternal...it is forever at peace

Knowing there is no end is when love does blossom
When you begin to truly live instead of playing possum

peace,
mikey

Re: Be here NOW

Brinty, your story reminded me of when I was a teenager. Spooky movies I tended to avoid. I took my kids to Jurssic Park and was an absolute cot case!!! But another time I remember was when I learned judo as a teenager. I lived in Invercargill then, at the very bottom of New Zealand. I would walk home from my judo class about a mile, through all the parks, in the dark. I was always looking forward for someone to attack me so I could try out my new judo moves!!!! My world was very safe and the streets were every kids playground.

What I did later in life, when I did have fears, was to eventually follow the thread of my fears in my mind to find the very basis of them. It was fear of dying! When I looked at that fear squarely, without running, it disapated. I could then move on and move out in my life. Life opened up for me in magical ways and I have never looked back.

Love and Light

Carmen

Oh how true Carmen. :thumb_yello: Darkness on the streets was never a cause of fear - even in Auckland city. Many is the time I walked for miles through the streets after midnight after taking a girl home from a dance and having blown all my money on a taxi fare. :wub2:

Safety was never an issue back then and fear of walking in the dark was unknown.
